Recently, we have seen an increasing number of companies requesting English-language training sessions for their foreign employees.
This time, we were given the opportunity to conduct an Anti-Harassment Training session in English for teachers and staff at an international school.

Relying solely on online training makes it challenging for foreign employees to fully understand the requirements, criteria, and important considerations regarding sexual harassment in the workplace and workplace harassment in Korea.
While Korean employees are generally well-informed about what constitutes workplace harassment through media, social media, and conversations with friends, foreign employees often find it difficult to access relevant examples and cases in Korea.
To address this, Labor Law Firm SAERO is conducting English-language training sessions specifically designed for foreign employees.

[Customized English Training Session]
Considering that in international schools, many foreign teachers work alongside Korean staff, in this training session, our primary goal was to clearly convey the fundamental concepts. We focused on the following key areas:

How Korean laws define sexual harassment in the workplace and workplace harassment.

Criteria and examples presented in court cases, decisions by the National Human Rights Commission, and guidelines from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

Remedies available in case of harassment
To ensure that the session was as tailored as possible to the workplace and the audience (foreign employees), the training materials were organized as follows:

Inclusion of common harassment scenarios that frequently occur in school environments.

Integration of the internal grievance procedures specific to the international school.

Explanation of actions related to sexual harassment in the workplace and workplace harassment that are prohibited under Korean criminal law.
